About JoynTokyo

Where your next chapter in Tokyo begins.

JoynTokyo is a Tokyo-based media platform for people making Japan part of their lives. Whether you are preparing to move, finding your place at work or university, or discovering more of the city, we help you take your next step.

Useful information. New possibilities.

Our guides cover moving to Japan, studying, working, and everyday life. Alongside practical information, we share stories and ideas that help readers discover places, perspectives, and opportunities—with Tokyo as our starting point.

We believe good content should do more than answer a question. It should help you feel ready to try something, go somewhere, or start a new chapter.

How we approach our content

We aim to make information clear, useful, and grounded in reliable sources. We distinguish practical guidance from personal experience and identify paid partnerships. Information can change, and reader feedback helps us spot what needs updating.

Read our Editorial Policy, or contact us if you find something that needs correcting.

How JoynTokyo is supported

Advertising, sponsored content, and affiliate partnerships help support JoynTokyo. Advertisement links are marked with a sponsored relationship. A visible “Advertisement” label is shown when that placement is set to display one, so it does not appear on every commercial placement. The site does not automatically add a separate disclosure to every article that contains an affiliate link. We may earn a commission when readers use those links.

We also feature services operated by Joyn. The Joyn Academy promotion on the home page is named as Joyn Academy. Other references to a Joyn service are not automatically labelled.
