Privacy Policy

Effective date: 23 September 2026

1. Who we are

JoynTokyo is operated by Joyn合同会社, a Japanese limited liability company (“we”, “us”, or “our”). This policy explains how we handle personal information through the JoynTokyo website and enquiries made to our team. We handle personal information in accordance with Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information and other applicable laws.

2. Information we collect and why

We collect information you provide when contacting us, such as your name, email address, and message. We use it to respond, investigate content concerns, and manage the enquiry.

When you visit the website, we and the services used on the site may process technical and usage information, including your IP address, browser and device details, pages viewed, referral information, and interactions. We use this information to deliver and protect the website, understand readership, and assess content and advertising performance. The services and purposes are described below.

We also use information where necessary to meet legal obligations and address misuse or disputes. We will not use personal information for an unrelated purpose without taking the steps required by law.

3. Cookies, analytics, and external services

Cookies and similar technologies may store information on your device or help recognise a browser. Our website also makes requests to service providers to deliver content and support the functions described below. Some information may be transmitted even where a service does not use cookies.

Service and providerInformation sentPurpose (JoynTokyo / provider)Retention / choices / privacy notice
Website and media delivery — Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc.)The request used to open a page or file, including your IP address, the URL, the date and time, and browser and device details the browser sends, such as the user agent and a referring page when one is sent.JoynTokyo uses Cloudflare Workers to deliver and protect joyn.tokyo, and Cloudflare R2 at media.joyn.tokyo to deliver media files. Cloudflare processes the request to operate that network. How long Cloudflare keeps request logs is set in the Cloudflare account. This policy does not state a retention period for those logs. No control on this website stops Cloudflare from receiving the request that loads a page.Cloudflare Privacy Policy
Google Analytics 4 — Google (production site only)On joyn.tokyo, after the page has loaded, the site requests Google’s tag from www.googletagmanager.com using measurement ID G-KTWCKBTCLF. The tag sends Google the page address and title, referral information, a client identifier stored in a cookie, browser and device details, and the IP address included with that request. These events do not include your name, email address, or message text. The tag is loaded without a consent-mode setting, and the site allows connections to Google advertising domains the tag may use. Preview and development copies of the site omit this measurement ID, so they do not load the tag.JoynTokyo uses the reports to understand which pages are read. Google’s own use of the data is described in its policies. How long Google Analytics keeps the data is set in the Google Analytics property. This policy does not state a number of months. You can block or delete cookies in your browser. Google’s pages describe its cookies and an opt-out add-on. Those browser controls do not stop Cloudflare from receiving the page request, and they do not delete advertising-measurement records already stored by JoynTokyo.Google Privacy PolicyGoogle Analytics data practicesHow Google uses cookiesGoogle Analytics Opt-out Add-on
Advertising measurement — JoynTokyo and Base44When an advertisement is displayed, the browser can send an impression, a viewable impression, or a click to joyn.tokyo at /api/ads/events. The event includes the advertisement identifier, placement, page path, device category, and random delivery identifiers. It does not include your name, email address, or message text. A first-party cookie named jt_asg stores a random identifier for 30 days so the same browser stays in a consistent test group. That value is not an email address or an IP address. Choosing an advertisement can send the page path, device category, and that cookie to JoynTokyo’s advertising service. A click can add a random jt_click value to the outgoing link. The noindex page /consultation can send a test claim that contains that click identifier. It does not ask for your name or email address, and it does not create a booking. JoynTokyo forwards these events to its member-operations service on Base44.JoynTokyo uses the events to measure whether advertisements were shown, seen, and clicked. Base44 receives the forwarded event for that measurement. The jt_asg cookie lasts 30 days unless the browser deletes it sooner. Event rows are stored in JoynTokyo’s advertising ledger. This policy does not state an automatic deletion date for those rows. Deleting the cookie does not delete rows already stored.

You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Blocking them may affect some website functions. Additional choices, where a provider offers them, are linked in the table above. This website does not provide an on-site cookie settings page. Blocking cookies or using a provider opt-out does not stop every transmission in the table: Cloudflare still receives the request that delivers the page, and those steps do not delete advertising-measurement records already stored. This site does not run a consent banner. Where the law requires consent before a particular use, that use is not authorised by this policy alone.

4. Sharing information

We use service providers to support website operation, security, communications, and the purposes described in this policy. The providers named in the table above are the ones used by this website.

We do not provide personal data to unrelated third parties for their own purposes without consent, except where permitted or required by law. External analytics, advertising, or embedded services may process information under their own policies, as identified in the table above.

If personal data is transferred to a recipient outside Japan, we follow the applicable requirements for that transfer, including providing information, obtaining consent, or ensuring appropriate safeguards where required. Further information about applicable safeguards can be requested through our privacy contact.

Google Analytics and Cloudflare are provided by companies outside Japan, and this website does not limit their processing to Japan. Ask the privacy contact which countries and safeguards apply to a transfer. Publishing this policy is not itself consent to an overseas transfer.

5. Retention and security

We retain personal information for as long as needed for the purposes explained here, taking account of legal requirements and the need to resolve enquiries or disputes. We delete or de-identify it when it is no longer needed. Service-specific retention information is included in the table where relevant.

Further information about our safeguards is available on request, except where disclosure could compromise security.

6. Your requests and choices

Subject to applicable law, you may request notification of the purposes of use; access to personal data we hold about you and relevant third-party disclosure records; correction; deletion; cessation of use; or cessation of third-party provision.

Contact team@joyn.tokyo and describe your request. We may ask for proportionate information to verify your identity or authority to act for someone else. We will explain the procedure, any applicable lawful fee, and the outcome without undue delay. If a request cannot be fulfilled, we will explain why.

You can also contact us at this address with privacy questions or complaints.

7. External websites

Links on JoynTokyo may take you to websites operated by other organisations. Their handling of personal information is governed by their own policies. Please review those policies before submitting information.

8. Updates

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our services or data practices. We will publish the revised policy and its effective date here, give additional notice where appropriate, and obtain consent where required by law.
